Taijiquan

Diane is a longtime student (over 30 years) of famed US Taiji pioneer and martial arts author Robert W. Smith. She began her studies in Washington, DC, first learning the Solo Form and then Sensing Hands (Push Hands) or Tuishou. Sensing Hands is the martial application of the Taiji postures.

Concurrently, Diane studied with Benjamin Lo of San Francisco and Maggie Newman of NYC, from whom she learned the Solo Sword Form and Dueling or Sword Play. Diane remains appreciative of Mr. Benjamin Pang Jeng Lo’s continued teachings.

Diane received direct permission to teach from Mr. Smith and has been doing so for over 20 years, first in Washington, DC and now in Rochester. She brings her distinct knowledge of the Chinese Healing Arts into her classes, also sharing her more than 30 year's study of the Asian philosophies, including Taoism and Buddhism.

Diane writes and speaks widely in the Western New York area on topics of health and well-being, particularly meridian medicine. She has had articles on T’ai Chi and health published in national and international magazines.

Additionally, for over 10 years Diane has been teaching Taiji at OASIS in Rochester, NY, for those who are 50 years and older.

She is an authentic Taiji teacher, joyfully sharing her passion for the elegant movements of Cheng Man-ch’ing’s (Zheng Manjing) Yang Style, Short Form, Taijiquan.
